British Museum Expedition to Kom Firin
The fieldwork at Kom Firin is made possible with the generous permission of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt, with particular thanks due to the Secretary General Dr. Zahi Hawass, and also Dr. Magdy el-Ghandour and Hisham el-Eithy.
The SCA inspectors who accompanied our missions were Hisham Nahmen Att-allah (2002), Karem Kotp Abu Kamr (2003), Abdu Rahim Ali el-Tehami el-Maadawy (2004), Ibrahim Sobhy Ibrahim (2005) and Bahgat Ibrahim (2006) and Karim Tolba (2007). Ismail Said Mohamed, conservator with the SCA, joined us during the 2004 season.
Fieldwork at Kom Firin is funded directly by the British Museum, with special thanks due to the Townley Group of the British Museum Friends (2002-2005), M. Vernor Miles (2003), the Thomas Mulvey Fund at the University of Cambridge (2007) and Dr. Ahmed El Mokadem (2008). The Robert W. Little Foundation of the University of Akron helped support the magnetometry survey (2003-2005).
We are also grateful to Stewart White, Vodafone Egypt and the Egypt Exploration Society (notably Rawya Ismail and then Faten Abd el-Halim Salah) for logistical support. The bespoke database has been developed by Nicolas Monté, during an internship at the British Museum.
